Teacher Training Program:
In the last update, I shared some exciting news about a vision for a teacher training program in South Sudan. Thank you to the D.C. Rotary Club, Parole Rotary Club, Annapolis Rotary Club, and Rotary district for bringing this incredible and life-transforming program to life. The D.C. Rotary, with the help of Sharon from the Parole Rotary Club, has awarded Undying Hope a generous $6,150 grant to train 85 teachers in Wau, the capital city of Western Bahr el Ghazal State. The training is all set to take place on August 5th, 2024.
In addition, the Annapolis Rotary Club, working with the Rotary district, has provided Undying Hope with a $6,000 grant to train teachers in Aweil, the capital city of northern Bahr el Ghazal State. We will finalize the date for this training soon.
These two grants will have a significant impact on South Sudan. The country currently has a high illiteracy rate of 68%, indicating that only 34% of the population can read and write. By providing practical training to teachers, we are equipping them with the skills to educate more students and keep them in school. These grants will undoubtedly play a crucial role in promoting the importance of teacher training, arming teachers with essential teaching skills, and ultimately contributing to improving South Sudan’s literacy rate.
On behalf of the people of South Sudan, my wife and I would like to express our profound gratitude and appreciation to all the Rotary clubs involved. We also extend our thanks to the Wau Rotary Club of Western Bahr el Ghazal for sponsoring the two grants. We are equally thankful for the sincere support and active participation of the Ministry of Education. Undying Hope’s efforts are making a real and meaningful difference in South Sudan and beyond!
Multipurpose Building Project (Draft):
I am thrilled to share some exciting news on behalf of the Undying Hope leadership team. Three friends have pledged support for our ambitious multipurpose building project. This project aims to provide a sustainable solution by incorporating entrepreneurial initiatives, an educational institution, a community center, and a church.
Our initial focus, Phase 1, will center around entrepreneurial ventures such as agricultural farming, greenhouse operations, and poultry farming. These projects are designed to generate income that will cover essential expenses like staff salaries, maintenance, and feeding.
As we progress with Phase 1, we will continue to provide training to teachers and scholarships to students in South Sudan and beyond. Our long-term goal is to expand our initiatives to other East African countries, provided we have financial support.
I will provide further details as our plans unfold. Despite the economic challenges faced by South Sudan, we believe that we can still make a positive impact. Undying Hope leadership team hopes you will join us in supporting this cause and making a difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you for your consideration and support.
