Every Dollar Spent on Education Counts

From potential to cultural diversity, education stands out as one of the most important contributors to development and empowerment in South Sudan. However, for many students facing economic challenges, access to quality education remains extremely limited. This is why scholarships have been so vital in changing and transforming lives in South Sudanese communities and beyond. Thanks to donations from generous supporters, Undying Hope has provided scholarships to at least 163 students at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels over the last three years.

The scholarships provided have helped reduce the financial burden on families, allowing other school-going children in the same family to receive an education as well. Undying Hope scholarships cover tuition fees, the cost of uniforms, and other scholastic materials, eliminating the financial stresses many students faced before receiving support. Previously, students had to take on menial jobs, such as brick-laying for boys or selling vegetables in the market for girls, to raise tuition. These scholarships have been a game-changer, enabling students to focus more intently on their studies, which has led to significant improvements in their grades for many.

We are proud to say our scholarships are quite inclusive; prioritizing girls’ education and
special needs children. Over 55% of the Undying Hope scholarships were awarded to girls
and special needs scholars. Such financial assistance enabled these young women and
special needs persons to continue their education by overcoming cultural barriers. We
believe through support to such disadvantaged groups, we are helping build a cadre of
leaders who will impact positive changes at community and national levels.

Scholarship support has a profound impact within South Sudan, providing students with hope and opportunity, many of whom study under extremely challenging circumstances. In addition to removing financial barriers, this support promotes gender equality and strengthens community development—demonstrating that education is essential for shaping a brighter future for South Sudan and beyond. As we continue our support, we are not only investing in individual lives but also in the future of the nation itself.
