- More than 55 percent of those scholarships went to girls and special-needs scholars.
- In July 2022 we counted 130 students who received the scholarship that year.
- At Christmas 2023, 131 students were in school in South Sudan and Kenya.
- Early in 2024, new awards were limited by funds. We still supported four final-year medical students.
- In 2027 we will support 50 more students through our scholarship program: 28 in Kenya and 22 in South Sudan.
Graduates
From 2021 through 2026, 24 Undying Hope scholars graduated: 10 from law school, 5 from medical schools, 4 from schools of business, 1 from a school of natural resources, and 2 from a School of Applied and Industrial Science. Two of the 24 are not yet confirmed.
In May 2025, Theil and his wife Aluel met graduates of the University of Juba. Among them, he named a doctor, lawyers, an accountant, a biochemist, and an environmentalist. In May 2025 we wrote that one law graduate finished at the top of his class. Evaline William Arkangelo graduated in medicine in February 2025 and was practicing at Juba Teaching Hospital by Josephine Mangu’s December 2025 note. She is a scholarship alumna.
In December 2025, Theil announced a first medical scholarship at Bahr el Ghazal University. In the 31 October 2023 letter he wrote that he and the coordinator were working on developing the Undying Hope Alumni Association. The Undying Hope Club at the University of Juba had already elected a chairman, a secretary, and a public-relations officer, as the 2 July 2022 update reported.

Teachers
From 2021 through 2026, 158 teachers were trained. More than 100 primary and secondary teachers were trained in August and September 2024 alone, in Western and Northern Bahr el Ghazal, the states whose capitals are Wau and Aweil. Rotary clubs sponsored the workshops. See teacher training.
Land and water
Community members in Aweil and in Wau gifted construction and farming land. There are two properties. So far, 129 fruit trees have been planted, and there is one borehole. In December 2025, Theil wrote that seasonal flooding had damaged the fruit trees on one property, while the 129 trees on the other property were growing beautifully. The School of Leadership remains planned. It is not open.
