Oasis in the Stuggles of Life

Undying Hope Team Visit to Kenya and Uganda:

We are thrilled to share our vision for the virtual education program and the incredible opportunities it presents! Our journey will begin by focusing on one of our four pillars: public health and healthcare services. We will carefully assess its impact before expanding to include the other three pillars: education, leadership, and spiritual formation.

Dr. Charles’ recent visits to hospitals in Kenya and Uganda have added immense value to our mission, coming at a crucial time. Based on his report, the Undying Hope visiting team had productive meetings, and we look forward to seeing the positive effects of this exciting initiative. This initiative is especially meaningful because it aligns with my PhD dissertation. The entire board is enthusiastic about it, as our team includes healthcare scholars and practitioners.

If you have the skills to contribute and want to make a difference in the oasis of struggles in East Africa, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out us! Remember, every bit of support makes a significant impact! Let’s embark on this journey together!

Theil and Rose Meeting with the Undying Hope Alumni in Juba:

During our time in Juba, Rose and I met five of the eight Undying Hope students who graduated this year from the University of Juba, officially making them Undying Hope alums. Among these graduates are a doctor, lawyers, an accountant, a biochemist, and an environmentalist. Notably, one of our law school graduates finished at the top of his class. Josephine, one of our talented and dedicated coordinators, organized this meeting.

We are also thrilled to announce that this year, Undying Hope plans to provide scholarships for 18 qualified students across six public universities in South Sudan—three students from each university—and six students in Kenya, including those from Sudanese refugee backgrounds.

Over the past three years, we have awarded scholarships to 163 South Sudanese and Kenyan students, making a huge impact on their lives. Despite working with a tight budget, the Undying Hope team is actively exploring ways to offer 24 additional scholarships this year, aiming to be an oasis and a beacon of hope for these students. I will share more updates in next month’s communication.

Charles’ Testimony (Undying Hope Alumni Association)

Meet Charles P., a remarkable graduate of the College of Law at Juba University. His vision impairment has not hindered him from achieving his goals. Charles embodies the inspiring belief that disability is not a barrier to success. We invite you to listen to his powerful testimony about how Undying Hope has transformed his life and the lives of many others.

At Undying Hope, we are incredibly proud of Charles and his accomplishments. He is a talented individual with immense potential waiting to be unlocked!

Are you a lawyer interested in mentoring someone as extraordinary as Charles? If so, we invite you to contact us. Josephine and I will connect you with him. Together, we can empower a bright future!

Urgent Need:

I received a report from Rose, who is currently in Aweil, where our two properties are located. She was warmly welcomed by leaders and the community, who expressed their heartfelt gratitude for Undying Hope’s vision to build a school, community center, and church when the time is right.

Rose emphasized a pressing challenge facing our community and Undying Hope fruit trees. There is an urgent need for a water borehole and water tower, especially during the dry season when access to clean water is essential for both the community and the Undying Hope fruit trees.

The cost of a borehole is approximately $13,000, while a water tower costs around $5,000.

We sincerely appeal to individuals, families, and organizations to prayerfully consider contributing to this vital cause. By helping us meet this urgent need, you will play a crucial role in creating an oasis in a challenging environment. Your generous donations will save lives and nurture our precious trees. If you are interested in helping, please contact Dr. Charles and me via the email addresses above. Thank you!
